Did you know that The Scandinavian straw goat is called the Yule Goat (known as Julbock in Sweden or Julebukk in Norway)?  It is one of the oldest winter and Christmas traditions in Northern Europe.  Originally, the goat was connected to Thor, the Norse god of thunder, who rode in a chariot pulled by two magical goats.  Making the goat out of straw comes from an old farming tradition.
